Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Solicits new and maintains existing relationships with customers, monitoring their business condition and learning about their product needs and business structure. Gains insight on their sales history and purchase patterns by maintaining records of both verbal and written communication.
  • Ensures regular correspondence and communication with customers; monitoring customer’s product use, satisfaction with product purchased and service received. Communicates terms of service, order and shipment process and timeframes, and product information.
  • Researches and evaluates current market and economic conditions through client interactions, trade publications and other resources and determines impact on CSRM and its customers. Monitors competitors.
  • Responsible for anticorruption compliance as set forth in the Anticorruption Manual. Specific anticorruption accountabilities include:
    • Following the travel and entertainment, gift giving and related expense reporting guidelines.
    • Ensuring all international sales are made in accordance with the due diligence and contract guidelines.
    • Ensuring the proper review and handling of all international sales.   
  • Performs work with inside sales team. Responsibilities may include:
    • Coordinates outside sales efforts and information with the inside sales department.
    • Maintains records and reports related to the sales function, including aggregate and geographic sales and pricing information and trends.
    • Answer incoming customer phone calls and emails and input order requests.
    • Evaluate pricing and track increases. Update and distribute pricing lists.
    • Monitor stock levels and inventory for all locations. Update and distribute revised stock lists weekly.
    • Evaluate invoicing and shipping discrepancies and take appropriate action to rectify.
    • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.             
  • Travel to anywhere as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  • Must possess strong interpersonal and oral communication skills for effective communication both in person and over the phone.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times representing the company and to provide quality customer service.
  • Familiarity with the industrial and/or manufacturing industry and knowledge of the technical and product terminology and pricing related to the company’s steel products.
  • Ability to operate the software necessary to perform the duties of this position such Microsoft Windows and Office applications, and various other business software specific to CSRM.
  • Must possess strong integrity and support the company’s Compliance Standards as well as support the Company’s Anticorruption Program through compliance with the Anticorruption Manual and Anticorruption Controls. 
  • Must possess strong critical thinking skills and the ability to proactively solve problems or address the questions and concerns of the client.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Climbing: Frequently. Ascending or descending stairs on a daily basis.
  • Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching: Occasionally. When needing to access office files, papers, etc.
  • Standing/Walking: Frequently. On a daily basis, primarily within office building, but occasionally outside or within manufacturing plant. 
  • Reaching: Continually. To retrieve office supplies, equipment or files/paperwork.  
  • Pushing/Pulling/Lifting: Occasionally. To move items within the office environment.
  • Grasping:  Continually.  To move papers, files and office supplies or to write.
  • Repetitive Motions of the hands/wrists/fingers: Continually. To perform office duties such as keyboarding, 10-key, telephone dialing, filing of documentation or operations of copier/fax machine.
  •  Sitting: Continually. Position is an office job and duties are primarily performed while sitting at a desk or modes of transportation (car, bus, rail, and airplane).

USE OF SENSES

  • Talking in Person/By Telephone: Continually. To explain procedures, gather information, give directions. Ability to communicate with individuals of varying English speaking/understanding ability. Ability to communicate in either an office environment or on occasion, in a loud mill environment.
  • Hearing: Continually. To listen, in person and over the phone, and to understand.
  • Vision: Continually. To read and view computer monitor, data and figures and text.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL

Work is primarily performed in a variety of settings including office environment, outside plant environment, and customer premises. It may occasionally require the ability to exert force or to push/pull up to 20 pounds, and/or to lift/carry up to 10 pounds.

A worker in this position will be subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions including the mill environment. Travel is a frequent component of this position so must be adept at traveling via rail, air, bus, or car. PPE is required and will be provided when this is the case.

This position requires the ability to travel both locally and out of state to meet with customers and potential customers.

Required Skills

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • 5+ years of relevant sales experience, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
