Job Description

This position reports to the Director of Business Planning and Analytics and has direct interface with senior leadership in the organization. The primary focus of this position will be supporting the Vehicle Purchasing team, working as a business partner to maximize financial performance in this area of the business. The Finance Analyst will be responsible for data mining, ad–hoc analysis, financial modelling to support operations, research and extensive data analysis.

The Sr. Business Analyst must possess knowledge of ad-hoc reporting through advanced Excel work, SalesForce, Access Databases, SQL Server, Oracle Business Intelligence, large data extracts through ODBC connections, and ability to pick up new data structures quickly. This position will work with large amounts of “Big Data”, so comfort with data is essential for success. This position will require SQL development, extensive financial modeling and dashboard development to automate reporting and provide visibility to the business. Along with the reporting/data responsibilities, this individual must be able to communicate effectively with operations in determining reporting needs and standardization, and present to the executive team.

Essential Functions

  • Operational Performance & Best Business Practices
    • Learn the operations, commercial and financial aspects of the business to be able to pull relevant data and develop dashboards and reports to optimize performance
    • Become completely conversant with all technical/operational aspects of the reporting systems within an accelerated timeframe
    • Understand and identify more efficient work processes, working closely with the VP of Vehicle Purchasing and other business leaders
    • Function as project leader to manage a broad range of adhoc projects.
    • Act as single point of contact for all Vehicle reporting related inquiries from the business.
    • Provide documentation (where needed) for training , modifications, and solutions in regards to the reports developed
    • Support all departments interacting with the reporting systems: Operations, Commercial, and Accounting
    • Participate in cross functional and cross divisional teams; develop strong interpersonal relationships and resolve issues jointly
    • Develop custom ad-hoc reporting from the different operational databases through Excel, Access, SalesForce. SQL and Oracle Business Intelligence.
    • Must have advanced knowledge of Excel and excellent oral and written skills to be successful in this role. Must be able to tell a story with the data.
    • Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
    • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong communications skills. Must be able to “Tell the Story” with data, and present to all levels of the organization.
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter.
  • Able to learn through training, experimentation in test environments and shadowing personnel.
  • Must have organizational skills, analytical skills and research skills in resolving, at times, complex problems.

10+ years of progressive experience in Finance and/or business analyst role
