PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, management, and vendors.
  • Ability to operate the office equipment and software necessary to perform the duties of this position such as a PC, Microsoft Office applications, fax machine, multi-line phone system, copier and 10-key.
  • Must possess strong attention to detail, strong organizational practices, ability to prioritize work assignments and to manage multiple priorities.
  • Must possess strong English, grammar, punctuation and spelling skills for the creation and/or revision of professional business correspondence.
  • Ability to read or hear and comprehend instructions in written, oral or diagram form to effectively produce correspondence, memos and other office materials.
  • Knowledge of the principles of professional office environment and the ability to apply these principles to role and work assignments.

Required Skills

JOB DUTIES

  • Continually:  Performs general clerical/secretarial duties such as typing and editing correspondence, filing, photocopying, answering the phones, and faxing.
  • Continually: Maintains and distributes various records or reports specific to safety and equipment upkeep for the melt shop including accident reports, safety meeting reports, equipment maintenance and repair records, and compliance records.
  • Continually: Maintains various records or reports specific to melt shop employees including schedules, telephone logs, seniority lists, vacation logs, and time and attendance logs.
  • Continually: Monitors employee time and attendance and reports issues to the Supervisor for resolution. Ensures completion of time and attendance paperwork.
  • Continually: Coordinates crew scheduling and tracks/calculates overtime. Schedules and approves employee vacation requests.
  • Frequently: Calculates supply and material usage and assists with monthly inventory for the melt shop. Orders supplies as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Continually: Collaborates and communicates with melt shop staff, vendors and other departments to facilitate melt shop functions.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Climbing: Frequently. Ascending or descending stairs on a daily basis.
  • Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching: Occasionally. When needing to access office files, papers, etc.
  • Standing/Walking: Frequently. On a daily basis, primarily within office building and the manufacturing plant.
  • Reaching: Continually. To retrieve office supplies, equipment or files/paperwork.
  • Pushing/Pulling/Lifting: Occasionally. To move items within the office environment.
  • Grasping:  Continually.  To move papers, files and office supplies or to write.
  • Repetitive Motions of the hands/wrists/fingers: Continually. To perform office duties such as keyboarding, 10-key, telephone dialing, filing of documentation or operations of copier/fax machine.
  • Sitting: Frequently. Position is an office job and duties are primarily performed while sitting at a desk.
Required Experience

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED. 2+ years of clerical/secretarial experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Some relevant college coursework is preferred.

ENVIRONMENTAL

Work is performed indoors, in an office environment and is sedentary in nature. It may occasionally require the ability to exert force or to push/pull up to 20 pounds, and/or to lift/carry up to 10 pounds. A worker in this position will be subject to indoor environmental conditions and to manufacturing plant conditions such as noise, dust and smoke. When entering the mill, PPE is required and will be provided.
